You need shoes that’ll protect them feet from rocks and debris when you’re navigatin’ the river. Old tennis shoes work just fine if you don’t mind ’em gettin’ soaked. The Float Experience: What to expect during your journey from Water Users to Sheep’s Crossing.
Let me tell y’all about this beautiful journey down one of Arizona’s waterways! Our float will take us from Water Users (lot 1) to Sheep’s Crossing (lot 3), a stretch of the Lower Salt River that offers some of the prettiest views you’ll ever lay eyes on. You’ll be driftin’ through the stunning Tonto National Forest, with those Saguaro cacti standin’ tall against the blue sky. The river itself is mostly gentle with Class I rapids, perfect for floaters of all experience levels. And if you’re lucky, sugar, you might just spot some of them wild horses comin’ down to the water’s edge in the mornin’ light – a sight that’ll take your breath away faster than grandma’s homemade moonshine!

Now, this ain’t just any float trip – it’s a social affair! We’ll all be tyin’ our tubes together like a big ol’ floatin’ family, sharin’ stories and laughs as we make our way downstream. The early mornin’ launch time is intentional, honey – it helps us avoid the worst of that Arizona heat and increases our chances of seein’ wildlife. The float itself usually takes about 2-3 hours, dependin’ on the river flow and how much lollygaggin’ we do along the way. Y’all can bring your own beverages to enjoy (responsibly, of course – we ain’t raisin’ no fools), and don’t forget to bring a fitted sheet or old sheet to drape over your tube. Trust me when I say that black rubber gets hotter than asphalt in July, and you don’t want that kind of discomfort on your backside!

After we’ve conquered that beautiful stretch of river, y’all ain’t just gonna be sent on your merry way – no sir! We’ve set up a mighty fine shaded area right by the water where we can all gather to relax and unwind. This here’s the perfect spot to dry off, stretch out them river legs, and share tales about your floatin’ adventures. We’ll have plenty of ice-cold water available to help y’all rehydrate, but feel free to bring your own favorite beverages to enjoy while we’re chillin’. There ain’t nothin’ quite like sippin’ on somethin’ cold while you’re loungin’ by the water, watchin’ the river flow by with your new friends.
Now, we encourage everyone to bring along some food and snacks to enjoy during our post-float hang. Think picnic-style, sugar – sandwiches, chips, fruit, and whatever else strikes your fancy. Some folks like to bring small portable grills for a proper cookout, and we say the more the merrier! This relaxation time is truly what sets our Salt River experience apart from your average float trip. There ain’t no rush to pack up and leave – we want y’all to fully embrace the lazy river lifestyle. Many of our floaters say this wind-down time becomes their favorite part of the whole adventure, where connections are made and memories are cemented. So plan to stay awhile, darlin’, and soak up every bit of that Arizona sunshine and good company!
Special Offerings & Safety Tips: Highlighting the complimentary amenities, available equipment rentals, and important safety considerations.
Y’all are in for a treat with all our special little extras! We’re proud as peach pie to offer complimentary coffee and donuts to start your mornin’ right, plus those bright neon cooling towels I mentioned earlier. These ain’t just for show – they’ll keep you cool in that desert heat and help identify our group on the river. If you don’t have your own floatin’ gear, don’t you worry one bit! We’ve got a limited supply of tubes available for rent – just $5 for early birds who reserve by June 12th, then $10 after that. Need other equipment? We can help with that too! Reserve a seat on a float for an additional $5 (we’ll have it all aired up for you), rent oars for a $20 refundable deposit, or life vests for a $5 refundable deposit. And if you need that Tonto Pass, we can arrange that for an extra $10.
Now listen here, safety ain’t optional on our watch! The river may look calm and inviting, but Mother Nature demands respect. Always stay hydrated – the Arizona sun is powerful even in the morning hours. If you bring your “gardening essentials” or adult beverages, please consume responsibly. We want everyone havin’ fun, not puttin’ themselves in danger! Keep your valuables in waterproof containers, ’cause the river has a way of claimin’ things that ain’t secured. And remember, them wild horses are magnificent creatures, but they’re wild animals – admire from a distance and never try to feed or approach them. If you follow these simple rules and keep a friendly attitude, you’ll have yourself a safe and unforgettable Salt River experience that’ll have you plannin’ your next float before you’ve even dried off from this one!
